Applique is best described as the technique of creating patterns by attaching small pieces of fabric on to a background fabric. It’s commonly used in patchwork and quilting and can get really quite addictive! Learn more about this popular method on Annabel Groom’s Introduction to Appliqué, part of our mini series of introductory patchwork and quilting workshops for Autumn 2016.
This class follows our two day Beginners course and gives you the opportunity to focus on this one technique. Annabel will cover different methods of appliqué on the day, providing a comprehensive overview. You will be working on an individual patchwork block which can later be made into a cushion or used alongside other blocks as part of a whole quilt.
Our series of workshops called “An Introduction to Patchwork and Quilting” starts on 22nd September with a two day course for beginners. Other workshops in the series include this workshop, An Introduction to Celtic Knots and An Introduction to Machine Quilting. The classes can be booked individually to allow you to focus on one area or as a whole series, which enables you to make a whole patchwork quilt.
