Harriet Tubman: The story behind the quilt by Mandy Shaw

We are excited to welcome local designer and quilt maker Mandy Shaw to The Patchwork Dog and Basket for an evening of quilt history and story telling as part of our ongoing event for Lewes Artwave 2015. During her talk, Harriet Tubman: The story behind the quilt by Mandy Shaw, Mandy will talk in detail about the amazing journey of Harriet Tubman and The Underground Railroad, a tale which inspired her to design and make a quilt in Harriet’s honour.

Mandy Shaw is a maker of all thinks lovely. Based in East Sussex, Mandy has written countless books and patterns filled with projects and ideas for patchwork & quilting and home sewing. She has featured in several of Kirstie Allsop’s Tv series championing the makers of Britain and is now a regular on shopping channel sensation Create & Craft TV. Mandy teaches across the whole country, can be found at quilt shows through out the year, including Festival of Quilts in August & Kirstie’s Handmade Fair in September and on top of all of that will always have a new project on the go.
