Tana Lawn | Darby B
Tana Lawn | Darby B is part of our wide range of Tana Lawn from Liberty of London. At The Patchwork Dog and Basket we simply love Liberty Fabric. Its not only because the quality of the fabric is second to none, or because the legacy of the timeless designs is steeped in British textile history, although both of these are good reasons to hold the fabric in such high esteem. We, however, love it for its nostalgia. It seems everyone has a memory of a different print. Whether it was a party frock when you were 5 years old or the dining room curtains in 1982, Liberty fabric tells a story. It is also perfect for collectors of fabric. There are so many different prints, and classic designs are reprinted in different colour ways every year, along with new designs as well. Each print has its own history, and it is often the oldest designs that are still the most popular today.
Tana Lawn | Darby B was created from two hand drawn designs by a student from Central St Martins College, London and was part of the Spring summer 2014 Art Fabrics collection. The peacock feather is historically indicative of Liberty fabrics from the very beginning. Arthur Silver of Silver Studio used the Peacock feather in original designs sold to Liberty. These were inspired by the growing trend for motifs from Japan, which had only recently opened its trade routes when Liberty opened in the 1880s.
Liberty Tana Lawn is 100% cotton fabric, light weight and very fine. Tana Lawn | Darby B is ideal for patchwork or dressmaking, and can be used for all other home sewing projects. It is 136cm wide and is sold by fat quarter. If you order one piece you will get a fat quarter measuring 50cm x 68cm approx. Orders of multiple pieces will be sent as one continuous length. For example, order 6 fat quarters and you will receive 1.5 metres of fabric x the width.
